The final concert of Fantasy Theatre Factory’s Music@SRT series with Cortadito will be an extraordinary celebration indeed. South Florida’s premier Cuban son group was awarded “Best Latin Act” by the Miami New Times.
To celebrate this recognition, Cortadito is honored to welcome a true legend to the stage: world-renowned violinist Federico Britos. A 2-time Grammy Award winner and recipient of the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015, Britos is known as “the titan of the violin” for his impressive experience and knowledge of the instrument.
Serving as leading chair, soloist, and ultimately concertmaster with some of the great symphony orchestras of his native Uruguay, Venezuela, Peru, Cuba, and United States, Federico has toured extensively throughout the Americas and Europe. He has performed and recorded with some of Latin America’s most celebrated musicians, such as Astor Piazzolla, Horacio Salgan, Bola de Nieve, Cachao, João Gilberto, Dorival Caymmi, Vinicius de Moraes, Armando Manzanero, and Tania Libertad.
He has also shared his outstanding talent with jazz legends Dizzy Gillespie, Dexter Gordon, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, Woody Herman, Benny Goodman, Bucky Pizzarelli, Charlie Haden, Eddie Higgins, and Charlie Byrd.
