Miami Light Project and Community Arts and Culture have partnered with the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department to create and present the inaugural A Great Day at Oak Grove Park music festival on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Oak Grove Park (690 NE 159th St, Miami, FL 33162), beginning at 1 p.m. The free, all-ages show will feature international, regional, and local talent from Haiti, Cuba, and Miami, including Haitian songstress Emeline Michel, Haiti’s preeminent dance band Tabou Combo, Haitian-American multidisciplinary performing artist Inez Barlatier, award-winning Cuban folk group Cortadito, Latin Grammy-nominated Afro-Cuban jam / dance band the Spam Allstars, Haitian visionary artist Papaloko, plus special guests.

Cosi fan tutte is a Comic Opera composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. As one of Mozart's most well-known opera masterpiece, it is a must watch favorite of the classical music repertoire. Florida Opera Prima has selected Cosi fan tutte highlights to be performed in a concert format to further it's mission as a nonprofit organization for the Performing Arts in Florida. Featuring international artists: Zaylí Escalona, Kiley Hernández, Silvia Ludueña, Lucia Panizza, Herman D´íaz, Carlos Jimeno Opera Plot Summary Deeply convinced of women’s infidelity, the cynical Don Alfonso provokes his young friends Ferrando and Guglielmo by impugning the constancy of their fiancées, sisters Dorabella and Fiordiligi. To prove his assertion, Alfonso proposes the following plan to them: that they tell their fiancées they are leaving for war, and then return dressed as Albanian soldiers, ready to do anything to seduce the lonely fiancées. With their “real” lovers gone, Fiordiligi and Dorabella appear outraged when their servant Despina (Don Alfonso’s accomplice) introduces into their home the two Albanians, who quickly prove very enterprising. The two sisters at first reject them virtuously but soon allow themselves to be seduced by these new suitors who, under a false identity, gradually become disillusioned as they see their mistresses betraying them. “They all do that!” (“Così fan tutte”) Don Alfonso concludes, delighted to have proved his theory. When the deception is revealed, the two couples reunite despite it all, with no great illusion about their happiness.

When no will is found, they enlist the help of the shrewd lawyer Gianni Schicchi to produce a counterfeit will. Schicchi is happy to oblige, but names himself the primary beneficiary. What can the family do when they were accomplices to the forgery? It’s comic opera at its witty and ingenious best. It also features one of the most famous and beautiful arias in all opera, “O mio babbino caro.” Buoso's Ghost: In this comic sequel to Gianni Schicchi, Buoso’s Ghost begins where Schicchi ends. The premise is that Buoso Donati didn’t die of natural causes but was poisoned by his family. Of course, who better to manipulate the truth than the cunning and self-serving family lawyer Gianni Schicchi! Total run time: 2 hours 10 minutes including one intermission

The Cleveland Orchestra Franz Welser-Möst, conductor SCHUBERT Symphony No. 8 (“Unfinished”) TCHAIKOVSKY Symphony No. 6 (“Pathétique”) Tchaikovsky's Pathétique is the composer's passionate, quintessentially romantic final symphony. He wrote, “Without exaggeration, I have put my whole soul into this symphony ... I love it as I have never loved any of my other musical offspring.” Opening the program is Schubert’s enigmatic masterpiece; its two sublime movements, though perfection themselves, still mystify as to why the composer left it incomplete. It's the perfect pairing to experience the renowned, world-class sounds of the unparallel Cleveland Orchestra.

The Chopin Foundation of the United States is delighted to present pianist Kamil Pacholec, in two Chopin for All FREE concerts. Born in Poland in 1998, Pacholec just had his Carnegie Hall debut on December 13, 2022. He is currently in the doctoral program at the University of Miami studying with Kevin Kenner after recently graduating with honors from the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz under Ewa Poblocka. In 2021 he was a finalist at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and won an honorable mention. A noted prize winner at many competitions from a young age, Pacholec gave his first concert with orchestra at age 11. South Florida audiences are sure to be impressed with Kamil Pacholec and his program of Albeniz, Bach, and Chopin.

Koubek Center presents the next Little Havana Social Club event, Tambores II. The second edition of the popular Tambores’s event that takes the audience on a journey through the Americas celebrating its African-rooted music and dance traditions, from the Caribbean to the birthplace of samba and capoeira. Featuring groups from Perú, Colombia, Bahamas, Brazil and Africa. Tambores celebrates the drumming tradition present in the Americas and the Caribbean, from one of its African sources through the different variants, shaped by geography, economics, religious beliefs and colonial history. Drums are the beating heart of music created to dance, celebrate, and speak to the heavens. Hosted by multi-disciplinary puertorican artist, Bri La Pelúa as DJ and MC with her unique an infectious caribbean energy. Koubek’s Little Havana Social Club signature program channels the spirit of a fiesta de barrio (neighborhood party), informed by the many sounds and flavors of Latin American and Caribbean traditions but with a twist of contemporary Miami.

Two famous musical families dedicated to music for three generations tell their stories through Cuban music. Maestro José Ramón Urbay and Maestro Gonzalo Romeu as main artists will recreate the origin and evolution of "Danzón" in Cuba and Mexico.
