ArtsLaunch is the biggest free community event in Miami that celebrates the performing arts and other arts disciplines. This open house is the annual kick-off to Miami’s art season! ArtsLaunch is a full day of over 50 activities including free mini performances, interactive workshops, kids' activities, farmers market, tours and more.

For over 30 years, The Peking Acrobats’ jaw-dropping acrobatic skills and colorful productions have enchanted audiences worldwide. Based on centuries old Chinese folk traditions, their impossible-seeming feats of balance, juggling, trick cycling, and precision tumbling stretch the limits of human ability, while beautiful traditional costumes and music recreate the atmosphere of an exuberant Chinese carnival. The troupe usually performs at much larger venues – don’t miss this chance to see them up close!

Magic-maker Jason Bishop has been called the hottest illusionist of his generation, performing his awe-inducing original show at major venues across the U.S. and Europe and opening for stars like Drake and Kesha. And you could be one of his audience volunteers!

With the purchase of one $5 ticket for someone within the 13-22 age range, a second $5 ticket can be purchased for an individual of any age to join them.

Orchestra Miami’s Nicklaus Children’s Pinecrest Urgent Care Center’s Family Fun Series continues with Carnival! Let’s learn about and celebrate Carnival through the different cultures which celebrate! Enjoy the music and dance from Brazil, Trinidad, Venice, New Orleans and more! The concert is on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 SW 57 Avenue, Pinecrest, FL 33156. The performance lasts about 1 hour and is appropriate for children of all ages. Come early for the instrument petting zoo, courtesy of Allegro Music Center, and stay after for complimentary juice and cookies! Intelligence, Espionage and US Foreign Policy Institutions like the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency play a pivotal role in implementing and shaping U.S. national security and foreign policy. Nonetheless, the fields of intelligence and espionage tend to be underrepresented in scholarship about United States relations with the rest of the world. This talk will examine the emergence of these fields in the foreign policy apparatus through the course of the twentieth century and assess the role of agencies such as the CIA and NSA in shaping the U.S. foreign relations. David Kilroy is the Chair, Department of History and Political Science Interim Chair, Department of Literature and Modern Languages College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Nova Southeastern University.

Objects of Desire, Subjects of Fear: Hitchcock’s Complicated Women From Grace Kelly and Ingrid Bergman to Janet Leigh and Tippi Hedren; major and minor female characters drive the tales of some of the movie’s most famous suspense stories, and in the meantime, give us a quick peek inside the mind of Hitchcock himself. Marlisa Santos is an associate professor and Chair of the Department of Literature and Modern Languages at NSU. She has a Ph.D. from the University of Miami, M.A. from University of Miami and B.A. from Florida Atlantic University. Her areas of academic focus include film noir, classic film studies, literature and film and myth/fairy tale in popular culture. Some of the courses she teaches at NSU include Introduction to Film, Literature and Film, Film Noir, Major Directors and Myth and Fairy Tale in Modern Culture. She published The Dark Mirror: Psychiatry and Film Noir (Lexington Books) in 2010.

The Presidency - Past and Future Political Scientists have utilized a variety of methodologies and tools to explain the shifting power of the presidency and the ways in which we analyze presidential success and failure. This talk will examine some of the most influential studies and discuss recent trends that may alter the way we study the presidency moving forward. G. Nelson Bass III was awarded the Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award for 2014-2015, and was a finalist for the Faculty of the Year Award at the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 Student Life Achievement Awards. In 2012, Bass and several dedicated students created the Nova International Relations Association (NIRA), which serves as NSU’s Model United Nations Team. NIRA has gone on to win numerous awards at both the Florida Model United Nations Conference (FMUN) and the Southern Regional Model United Nations Conference (SRMUN) in Charlotte, N.C. In addition, each fall NIRA hosts a High School MUN Conference with local high schools on NSU’s campus. He is the Managing Editor of the open access, peer-reviewed journal Class, Race and Corporate Power, and his own research focuses on the ways in which non-governmental organizations (NGOs) interact with U.S. foreign policy abroad.

Claude Monet -The Quintessential Impressionist Claude Monet was one of the creators of Impressionism and one of the most convinced and constant in his creative output. It was one of his paintings that gave Impressionism its name. He painted in series the ephemeral effects of nature and the hardships he suffered never deterred him from that pursuit. Armando Droulers is an art historian, educator, lecturer, and consultant. He studied at Bard College, Academia de Arte Federico Brandt, New World School of the Arts and The University of Florida. He lectures on art and culture at museums, universities, schools, cultural centers, corporate events and cruise ships. He has lived in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and the United States and speaks fluent English, French and Spanish.

The Miami New Media Festival is a public art platform, which aims to promote video, film, and performance, among a broad audience. MNMF was founded in Miami Florida in 2006, and happen every year during Fall season. With various art activities such as video screenings, video mapping, audio-visual live performances, workshops, exhibitions, and lectures, MNMF offers a new possibility of public art.
