WEIRD SISTERS is a textile installation and audio narrative set within a grove of nine palm trees. The script, written collaboratively with Chat GPT2, tells an ecofeminist tale of Shakespeare’s Lady Macbeth. In this version, she leads a tree-killing army into the mangroves. The three Weird Sisters (witches) and a group of talking trees collaborate to stop her. Under their influence, Lady Macbeth experiences an epiphany and physical transformation, growing roots and branches, and glimpsing her interconnected role in the Wilderness Ecosystem.
WEIRD SISTERS is produced by Bas Fisher Invitational (BFI) and co-presented by BFI and Deering Estate as part of "Interlocking Dimensions: Eco-Art" Interlocking Dimensions, curated by Lillian Domniguez. This workshop is free due to Locust Projects Wavemaker Grant series.
