Typically presented at New World Center and the YoungArts Campus, the 2021 program will be presented for free online. The 144 artists showcased throughout the week, all YoungArts award winners at the Finalist level, the organization's highest honor, have been selected through a prestigious national competition and chosen by esteemed discipline-specific panels of artists through a rigorous blind adjudication process. From January 3-9, the artists will participate in an intensive program of online classes and workshops with internationally recognized leaders in their fields, and will record and develop their work for National YoungArts Week +. Starting Monday, January 25, you will get the chance to meet these accomplished young artists from across the country in a six-part series of free virtual performances, writers’ readings and an exhibition.

Throughout the winter season, Culture Shock Miami has had the opportunity to interview a diverse body of authors and discuss their work and personal lives. In the last Miami Book Fair discussion, I had the pleasure of interviewing Gavriel Savit, to discuss his National Book Award Finalist “The Way Back.”

 

Random Questions with Larry Fields Presented by Fantasy Theatre Factory

It's Random. It's Questions. It's Live. What could possibly go wrong? Audiences are raving "What is this?" "Why's this on my news feed?" and "Where am I?" He's the 12th most popular Google search result for "Larry Fields". He's kind of a big deal. Random Questions with Artistic Director Larry Fields is FTF’s newest virtual program! Just as the title suggests, the show is a fun, off-the-wall take on a talk show based around a series of rapid-fire random questions. Guests are all FTF alumni—both past and present, featuring performers, directors, designers, etc.—all the kinds of people who make FTF possible. This show is our way of celebrating our great and talented artists both on stage and off—and it’s a gig in the pandemic! 2020 Miami Book Fair: An Exclusive on "So This Is Love" with YA Author Elizabeth Lim

The Miami Book Fair is just around the corner! With multiple virtual panels by authors lined up, the fair will take place from November 15th to the 22nd. The fair will feature many authors and will allow you to watch these talented writers talk about their works. These panels, available for all ages and addressing a  wide range of topics, will surely inspire you and make your day.
