Jewels of Russian Ballet Presented by Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami

Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami (CCBM) artistic director Eriberto Jimenez, in collaboration with St. Lucie Ballet, artistic directors Rogelio Corrales and Lydia Oquendo, will present “Jewels of the Russian Ballet” at the Seminole Theatre on Saturday, March 28 at 7:30 pm. “Jewels of the Russian Ballet” will highlight selected pieces of the most famous Classical Ballet Repertoire from the renowned Russian choreographers Mikhail Fokine and Marius Petipa, including: “Scheherazade”, based on the female character and storyteller of the Middle Eastern collection of tales known as ‘One Thousand and One Nights’; the Odalisque’s pas de trois from “Le Corsaire” inspired by Lord Byron's epic poem, and “The Awakening of Flora” based on the Greek myth of Flora Goddess of Spring. Original works include “Yerma”, a tragic poem by Spanish dramatist Federico García Lorca that tells the story of a childless woman living in rural Spain. Her desperate desire for motherhood becomes an obsession that eventually drives her to commit a horrific crime, and “Habaneras.” La Habanera is a sign of cultural identity that reaches all artistic expressions with great refinement from intimacy to higher and romantic states of mind. Dance, Jazz, Theater & Voice Performance Presented by National YoungArts Foundation

The region's most accomplished young artists come to Miami for special one-night-only performances. During the intensive, weeklong and all-inclusive program, artists across 10 disciplines participate in master classes and workshops with internationally recognized leaders, including visual artists Loni Johnson and Robert Chambers, jazz pianist and composer Emmet Cohen (2009 YoungArts Winner in Jazz), author and award-winning journalist Dr. Joan Morgan and cinematographer Rick Delgado (1992 YoungArts Winner in Film), among others. The accomplished young artists then have the opportunity to share their talents with the public through multidisciplinary performances, writers’ readings, film screenings and a visual arts exhibition.

VOTE! A dance production centered around the 2020 Black History National theme Presented by Miami Dade College

VOTE! is a dance production that activates spaces and engages audiences with thought provoking movement exploring African American history. As part of this year’s Black History theme, African Americans and the Vote, the audience will experience traditions of African American culture from West Africa to southern Baptist Churches as well as exploring the elements of Hip-hop to Afrofuturism.

The end of the performance includes a Q&A between the audience, performers and the producer. The performance will include a voter registration engagement.

Russian National Ballet - Sleeping Beauty Presented by Broward Center for the Performing Arts

The Russian National Ballet has been bringing timeless ballet classics to the stages of North America since 1999. Founded in Moscow during the transitional period of Perestroika in the late 1980s, the company uses their new-found creative freedom, influenced by the political movement, to invigorate the tradition of Russian Ballet with new developments in dance from around the world. Founded by artistic director of legendary Bolshoi principal dancer Elena Radchenko, the company focuses on upholding the grand national tradition of the major Russian ballet works continuing to enlighten, inspire, and entertain audiences worldwide. The Sleeping Beauty, is often considered the finest achievement of the Classical ballet with a grandiose and refined blending of the traditional mime, expressive pas d'action and spectacular divertissements in a lavish theatrical setting. Tchaikovsky was delighted with the invitation to write the music for a ballet based on Charles Perrault's well-known fairy tale replete with a king and queen, fairies both good and evil, a beautiful princess and dream prince, magical stage effects, and courtly splendor.

Flamenco Sephardit VII Presented by Flamenco Sephardit

Back again by popular demand...Flamenco Sephardit returns to Miami Beach's Temple Emanu-El for a 7th consecutive year. This show has delighted and amazed over 10,000 people around the world since it began in 2014. This year the producers welcome back opera star Audrey Babcock and dancer Jorge Robledo to the cast. Flamenco master Jose Moreno also joins the cast this year! A phenomenal cast of Flamenco dancers, guitarists, strings and percussion promises to leave you on the edge of your seat!

Sundays in the Park: Where Earth Meets Sky performance Presented by Artists in Residence in Everglades

Choreographer and AIRIE Fellow 2018 Dale Andree will activate the shores of Long Pine Key with a new, never before performed interactive dance performance, focusing on tempo and the flow of movement that comes with congregating and separating. Audience members, musicians and dancers will interact during this call and response activation of the pinelands, followed by a Q&A in the newly renovated Long Pine Key Amphitheater.

Dancers include Rebecca Pelham, Katie Brennan, Barbie Freeman, Emily Ricca, and Sun Young Park. Live music by Roy Robinson.
