Miami Light Project Presents Here & Now: 2020

See Miami Light Project’s signature commission program for Miami-based artists – Here & Now! Filmed and presented virtually for the first time, the program features newly commissioned short work from Miami’s freshest and most exciting emerging artists, who are working across disciplines to define contemporary performance in Miami.

Brink is a contemporary dance work inspired by Orson Welles’s radio broadcast of “War of the Worlds” from 1938.

Virtual Daniel Lewis Dance Sampler 2020 Presented by Dance Now! Miami

Safely showcasing a curated group of ten companies and choreographers in this COVID-19 moment, this 10th anniversary Daniel Lewis Dance Sampler evening will feature specially created "dance on film" segments and recorded concert footage. The showcase of short works and excerpts will be one "performance" only viewable online on Friday, October 23 at 7:00 pm. The work ranges from a flamenco interpretation of an Ibsen play to a dance video shot among the mangroves of the Florida coast to quarantine-inspired works. In addition to performances, the streamed show will feature interviews with the choreographers and directors, moderated by Cameron Basden from Miami Dance Hub. The program will last about one hour. Participating groups include: Arts Ballet Theater, Ballet Flamenco La Rosa, Dance NOW! Miami, Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami, Karen Peterson and Dancers, Kyra Jean Green, Momentum Dance Company, New World Dance Ensemble, Sandra Portal Andreu and Pioneer Winter Collective.

Register for FREE Hip Hop Dance Workshops Presented by African Heritage Cultural Arts Center

The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center (AHCAC) and Culture Shock Miami join together to offer two free virtual Hip Hop Dance workshops featuring local Miami artists.

The five-week workshop will be led by dancers/choreographers Netilya Cobb and Joshua Eason, both AHCAC alumni.

Beginning August 4, 2020, Hip Hop Fusion classes with Joshua Eason are every Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Hip Hop with Netilya Cobb will be every Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Ages 10 & up are welcomed. Space is limited.
