Siudy Garrido is one of the most exciting international flamenco performers today. Latin Grammy-nominated with an unmistakable virtuosity, Garrido and company blend contemporary influences and traditional elements over original flamenco compositions. Their new show, Bailaora, mis pies son mi voz, features music composed by Juan Parrilla, Manuel Fernandez, Siudy Garrido and Jose Luis de la Paz. It departs from traditional flamenco by blending non-traditional instruments such as jazz guitar, piano, flute and drums into a contemporary vision of the art form. Enjoy 80 minutes of dance-theater showcasing vivid and colorful costumes, award-winning choreography and astoundingly percussive footwork. Karen Peterson & Dancers (KPD) celebrate their 32nd anniversary with REPERTORY FAVORITES, a multidisciplinary dance concert on May 27-28, 2023 at The Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center’s Lab Theatre. KPD’s dynamic program features 8 company members dancing pieces by acclaimed physically integrated (PI) choreographers from across the US, a documentary on KPD’s dance program for teens with special needs in Miami-Dade County Public School System, and the premiere of their latest work. This concert presents a curation of works from the KPD repertoire to honor over 3 decades of their inclusive, mixed-mobility dance, education, and advocacy worldwide.

Birds of Paradise honors and celebrates the enduring nature of queer and marginalized people to shape themselves into something that is desirable, vulnerable, fierce and reborn. This will be the third iteration of this series by Miami-based choreographer Pioneer Winter, who continues exploration of beauty and virtuosity outside the mainstream. Mother May I- is a dance and discussion addressing maternal health outcomes. It seeks to use dance to give voice and presence to the importance of positive maternal health outcomes for all women. While highlighting the disparities that exist resulting in black women being 3 times more likely to die as a result of pregnancy and birth related issues.

Meadow, a dance event tribute to composer Thomas Meadowcroft featuring “ABRACADABRA” and it’s mirage compliment, “arbadacarba”. Dance is a physical symbolic language of awe woven in the language of light.

La Fille Mal Gardée” celebrates the pastoral life of 18th Century France – where love triumphed wealth. A fun comedic ballet with beautiful sets, costumes, and Cuban ballet stars – the mother of a precocious girl named Lise keeps her at home in hopes she’ll marry the son of a wealthy businessman. But stubborn Lise is in love with Colas – a boy with very little. Choreographed by Jean Dauberval, the ballet premiered at the Grand Theatre de Bordeaux in 1789 – two weeks before the French Revolution. It is a landmark of modern ballet repertory – having lived through many revivals, title changes, and six scores. The Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami continues to recognize the work, dedication, and cultural legacy of dance in our community by prominent teachers and choreographers of our city – honoring them with the “Artistic Achievement Award”. At this performance, it will be presented to former Cuban ballerina and founder/director of the Balletique Dance School of Miami, Mrs. Rosa Aloma.
