George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker Presented by Miami City Ballet

The sweetest of all holiday traditions is back. Little Marie’s dream comes alive in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® and you are invited on her enchanted journey! She bravely fights off an army of mice and their ferocious King. With her gallant Nutcracker Prince, she travels through a wintry wonderland of darting, swirling snowflakes to the Land of Sweets where waltzing flowers and curious confections from around the world dance for her.

Armour Dance Theatre’s production of The Nutcracker is Miami’s oldest presentation of the holiday classic and has been enjoyed by over 300,000 audience members over 42 years. The cast is a celebration of Miami’s diversity, featuring students from all five Armour Dance Theatre locations, dancers from New World School of the Arts, and internationally known guest stars.

Program I "Clara" and Opus Ballet Presented by Dance NOW! Miami

Dance NOW! Miami presents Clara, a reimagining of The Nutcracker that charts the journey of a young woman, exploring and experiencing the exotic, the unknown and the forbidden, in search of love, identity and self-determination. 

Compagnia Opus Ballet will perform an excerpt from The Four Seasons, an homage to the Renaissance, and the iconic Vivaldi music and Ototeman. Their performance will include light, playful work with a popular music score. 

Vladimir Issaev's "The Nutcracker" Presented by Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida

The charm of the Holidays fascinates all audiences as Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida presents the classic ballet "The Nutcracker" to Tchaikovsky's popular score based on the tale of Ernest Hoffman. The critically acclaimed performance is choreographed and directed by renowned Ballet Master Vladimir Issaev. This awarded professional company features their own ballet stars performing the principal roles, as well as a community cast made up of local character artists and children. The engaging choreography from the fun of the party scene to the harrowing battle scene, to the enchanting kingdom of the sweets is guaranteed to entertain any age. The Nutcracker is not only the most popular ballet enjoyed by audiences around the world during this time of the year but it also serves as an introduction to ballet for young audiences.

"Touch of RED" by Shamel Pitts | TRIBE Presented by Miami Light Project

Touch of RED by Shamel Pitts | TRIBE November 3—5, 2022 at 8 pm at Miami Theater Center Miami Light Project, in partnership with YoungArts, presents the South Florida premiere of Touch of RED by Shamel Pitts | TRIBE. Inspired by the quickness of footwork in boxing and the camaraderie within combat, this dance performance created by the visionary Brooklyn-based arts collective TRIBE—led by artistic director and choreographer Shamel Pitts—utilizes projections, animation, original soundscape, scenography by MacArthur Fellow Mimi Lien, lighting and movement to create an immersive world.

Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami: Latin Voices Presented by The Moss Center

Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami brings the heat of Cuban nostalgia back to the Miami stage! Receiving rave reviews for their 2018 performance of Septime Webre’s “Juanita y Alicia” at The Joyce Theatre in NYC, Dimensions will fire up the main stage once again with this audience favorite, peppered with infectious 'dance-in-your-seat' Latin rhythms, played live by Alain Garcia & his Latin Power band.

Farruquito Presented by The Moss Center

Farruquito, heir to the most renowned Gypsy flamenco dynasty, is the greatest flamenco dancer of this new century (NY Times). Farruquito made his first international stage appearance on Broadway in New York City at the age of four alongside his grandfather, “EL Farruco”, and spent his formative years immersed in the legendary Farruco school. He has created and directed over 15 works since the age of eleven, and has not only been hailed by critics and audiences alike for his prodigious artistry, but also for his incredible personality, profound poetry and captivating beauty.
