"Bird Woman" by Carla Forte Presented by Miami Light Project

Bird Woman is a multimedia performance by Carla Forte that fuses dance, film, original music and sound installation. It is based on and inspired by stories of Latina women immigrants. The piece explores the human condition and translates their stories into gestures, emotions and movements, creating a new language to express these women’s thoughts, desires, emotions and hopes.

Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami presents Spanish Classical Nights

Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami (CCBM) presents their exciting premier of “Spanish Classical Night” in collaboration with Sanctuary of the Arts Choreographic Ensemble. Tracing the roots of our Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami, “Spanish Classical Night” features the best of the classical Spanish inspired repertoire emphasizing the relationship between classical ballet and traditional Spanish dance that has been a powerful influence on the nineteenth and twentieth centuries ballet repertoire. The program features: “Paquita”, staged for the Imperial Ballet of St. Petersburg in 1881, “Esmeralda” pas de six, inspired by the novel Notre-Dame de Paris, the world famous “Don Quixote” pas de deux, based on the famous Miguel de Cervantes novel, and a CCBM World Premiere of “La Casa de Bernarda Alba” (The House of Bernarda Alba) that honors the renowned Spanish writer Federico Garcia Lorca with this original ballet inspired by the legacy of his literary work.

“Balance & Imbalance” and “Judo” by Bereishit Dance Company Presented by MDCA

Founded in 2011 by choreographer Soon-ho Park, Bereishit is a Seoul-based dance company that takes a contemporary approach to Korean traditional culture, focusing on fundamental values, as opposed to simply borrowing or transforming them. Park's work explores the issues of identity and transformation and delves into multimedia, street dance, community dance work and real time interactive demonstration. With heightened sensitivity towards space and rhythms, the company's captivating performances are delivered with kinesthetic clarity and power.

Family Fest in the Park: Michela’s Love Movement Presented by Arsht Center, Culture Shock Miami, Roxy Theatre Group, and Miami-Dade County Parks

Through a partnership with Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces, the Arsht Center introduces Family Fest in the Parks. Presented in partnership wth Culture Shock Miami and Roxy Theatre Group, Michela's Love Movement will be performed at Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40th St, Miami.

To Reach the Light Premiere Film Screening Presented by IlluminArts

Join IlluminArts for the Premiere Screening of a film created about the 2022 IlluminArts program, "To Reach the Light". In April 2022, IlluminArts presented the Philadelphia based vocal ensemble Variant 6 in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary performance featuring six newly commissioned pieces by composers from across the United States and Europe with new original choreography performed by Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami. In the height of the pandemic, IlluminArts asked each composer to write a piece based on ideas of transformation, adaptation, growth and change: themes that resonated through the world at the time. The results were six wildly different, exciting compositions. The April 2022 performances took place in Miami at the Rubell Museum and in Philadelphia at the Glen Foerd Estate. The film, captured and edited by Alex Markow with sound engineering by The Guild Live, features fascinating interviews with the artists and composers, as well as the entire extraordinary performance. The Live Premiere Film Screening will take place at the Coral Gables Art Cinema on Saturday, December 3rd at 12 PM. Tickets are available for $10.
